FIRST LOST LOC!!!!!!!!
All,
Tragedy has struck... In my last post, I talked about the difficulty I was having retightening my own hair. Well, since then I've been practicing and getting much better. For the most part, I've been using my fingers rather than a tool, since it's much easier and faster. The only problem is that you can't get the loc as tight as you can with the tool. So in order to get one lock super tight, I was using one of the Sisterlock tools (won't say which one, but it's certainly not hard to figure out!) Next thing you know, I accidently knotted the loc. I tried everything possible to undo the knot. Before I knew it, the knot had doubled in size. I thought to myself maybe if I cut a few strands of the hair I could loosen the knot enough to slip it out. The next thing I remember is the lock falling to the floor and me falling to my knees with it. Even though this sounds super dramatic, I was almost in tears! LOL! Now that it's been a few days, obviously, I can look back and laugh about "my first lost loc." Anybody care to share lost loc stories to make me feel better?
Also, I've decided to order the nappy loc tool. What size should I get?
Happy New Year!

awww sweetie! You bet! Been there done that one! Look at my old post http://detrasnubiannapps.blogspot.com/2006/08/yep-look-at-me-shaking-my-freshly.html
I have since lost more then 6 locs and although, I can not say it isnt a big deal, it has gotten easier for me.
I love that nappy loc tool, I have both the small and the medium, I started off with the small and honestly, I still use that size more then I do the medium.
I'm sorry to hear about your lost, lol . At least the lock fell out for a reason and not on its own, now that is a tragedy. As long as you keep practicing those retightening sessions will get better. Take Care
Hi, I want to know how its possible to retighten hair with just your fingers? Re the nappy lock tool, you will find this a lot easier as the sister locks tools I feel puts stress on the hair and weakens the hair strands.
I have both the small and the medium. However my locks are larger than yours so perhaps you only need the small.
As for losing a lock about a month ago I lost my first lock and I have no idea where it came from (lol). I wasn't even retighening the lock just fell to the floor. I was a bit horrified but I got over it and it hasn't happened again (lol).
Hang in there with the retightenings.
Thanks Ladies for the love! I am doing lots of laughing about that lost loc as well as all yourlost locs stories. I just hope my little plug growns back quickly since it was towards the front. Anonymous- When I took the Sisterlock retightening course, we first learned to retighten with our fingers on this yarn board. You simply place your finger though the lock root bed rather than using a tool, retightening in your designated pattern. You need to how a good bit of new growth and thin fingers.Retighening the back if your head is really easy with your finger.
so the nappylocs tool does work? by the way what brand foundation & eyeshadow do you use. It is flawless. :) I only wish I could get my eyeshadow to cooperate like that.
Anonymous,
Are you referring to my makeup in the wedding pictures? I guess so because, I don't wear eyeshadow for my day make-up. For the wedding, I hired a professional makeup artist named Tina John to do the makeup for the wedding party. Her products are were mostly MAC. For my daily makeup routine, I use MAC studio fix powder foundation. My colors are C7 or NC 45 depending on the time of year...
Girl I know that you can laugh about it now. I got a picture of you falling to the floor with the lock in your hand yelling LOL. I know I would of had a "Color Purple" moment. I hope that never happens to you again.
